Abstract— As ransomware assaults have become more common, anti-ransomware solutions that protect against ransomware are becoming increasingly important. In this work, we offer SSD-Insider++, a new ransomware security solution that stops ransomware attacks from affecting users' files. SSD-Insider++ is a firmware that is incorporated into an SSD controller. It provides more comprehensive data protection than software-based ones, which are prone to evasion attacks, as well as interoperability with many platforms, due to its separation from a host machine. SSD- Insider++ is made up of two unique features: ransomware detection and faultless data recovery, both of which are tightly linked. The detection method looks at a host system's I/O behaviors and determines whether it's being attacked by ransomwares at an early stage. When an encryption attack is identified, the recovery method is activated to recover original files at a cheap cost by utilizing an SSD's delayed destruction function. In most circumstances, SSDInsider++ achieves great accuracy in detecting ransomwares with 0% FRR/FAR and delivers rapid data recovery with 0% data loss,according to our tests. The overhead of running SSD-Insider++ is negligible: handling 4-KB reads and writestakes only 80 ns and226 ns longer, respectively.Keyword—Ransomware, Malware Detection, Data Recovery, Flash-based SSDs
