Thechromatography term is derived from the greek words namely chroma (colour) andgraphein (to write). Chromatography is defined as a set of techniques which isused for the separation of constituents in a mixture. This technique involves 2phases stationary phase and mobile phase. The separation of constituents isbased on the difference between partition coefficients of the two phases. Thechromatography is very popular technique and it is mostly used analytically. There are different types of chromatographic techniques namely PaperChromatography, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), Gas Chromatography, LiquidChromatography, Ion exchange Chromatography and lastly High Performance LiquidChromatography (HPLC). This review mainly based on the HPLC technique itsprinciple, types, instrumentation and applications.
