Abstract:Ithas long been a challenge to create an electronic voting system that meetslegislators' legal requirements. In the field of information technology,distributed ledger technologies is a promising new development. Blockchainsystems can be used to benefit from sharing economies in an infinite number ofways. The aim of this paper is to assess how blockchain can be used toincorporate distributed electronic voting systems as a service. The paperelicits the criteria for developing electronic voting systems and addresses thelegal and technical drawbacks of implementing such systems using blockchain asa service.
